My greatest fear was realised. Something that I have dreaded my whole life.
It has been both a short and a very long year, but it still hurts. Every. Single. Day. Today it has been hourly, and tomorrow isn’t looking much better.
Miss you Dad…

Which is not what I wanted to be saying straight after 2 weeks in Sunny Queensland. We got back last week and straight back into crazy normal life at home.
No, the worn and weak is a reference to this previous episode in my life…

I CANNOT believe that is was almost 2 years ago. It feels like only last month. Seriously. But Adelaide is currently experiencing a nasty weather pattern of winter storm… mainly lots and lots of howling wind. And it’s a bit traumatic. And I’m not sleeping.
But on the up-side, I got 4 of my drawers all sorted and refolded! I found many MANY clothes that I had forgotten I had!
I also have a new blogging buddy.
http://magginoodles.wordpress.com/
So if you want the short version of our trip, as posted via his iPhone, then there it is. I will be uploading photos soon. I hope.
I also have something good to look forward to this week hopefully. If all goes according to plan, I will have a brand new washing machine! Long overdue. Using my in-laws machines when we were away was enough. I spat the dummy and announced that we were getting a new one! And he said ‘Yes!’ It’s supposed to be delivered Tuesday. Oh, I hope I hope!
But I’m going to finish my little glass of port and go to bed. With a pillow over my head.
G’night all.
It seems like my last post regarding my avoidance of illness was a little too self-congratulatory. While all other members of the family have had a nasty virus, which I didn’t get, I decided to get pneumonia instead. After being sick for nearly 2 weeks, went to the Dr and am taking Anti-biotics and sleeping a lot. Should be better soon though, I hope!
And I wouldn’t believe any promises that I make around here, as I am obviously not back tomorrow with photos…
Anyway, I don’t have photos of the fridge, yet, but I do have exciting news!! 2 of my favourite designers are back in the game, at Funky Playground Designs no less….
Go check out Jessica Bolton and Tania Shaw’s new shops!
Of course, with new shops comes some new eye candy too…. so here goes.
Ok, so that’s all you’re getting from me today I’m afraid. I have those boys of mine dropping like flies with some nasty flu type virus. *skip* has been sick for 3 going on 4 days, is still madly feverish, with a hacking cough that is keeping ME up at night. Sam came home from school tonight and promptly spiked a fever himself. Tyson is miserable, but not officially “sick” yet, and I am just refusing to get sick. Tissue salts, echinacea and sheer willpower. As well as about a million cups of tea. None of this is helped by the fact that yesterday was the first official day of winter and it’s COLD already. It’s rained all day today, and I was extremely grateful that circumstances were conspiring to keep me home in the warm and dry.
Oh, and we survived the inevitable rental inspection last week. A bare 7 days notice, but we made it through somehow…. Whew. That’s over for another 3 months!
Ok, time to go check heads and dose someone…..
What I’m doing today….
Enjoying a day of rest. I had to work overtime last night and I am overloaded.
Enjoying my wonderful husband who spoiled me this year for our twelfth wedding anniversary. He out did himself… although I have to say I got him some great presents too. And the boys got some new games and DVD’s just in time for the school holidays.
Relieved that school is over… it has been crazy busy with end of year excursions, treats, lunches, swimming lessons, performances and reports. Glad that is done.
Missing my Dad terribly at the moment. It seems to come in waves.
Busy copying DVD’s of his service and also of the slideshow I created for the family. Hopefully will get them posted out this week.
Grateful for the friends and love that I have, even if I am not able to spend as much time with them at the moment.
Going to watch a DVD with my honey…
Goodnight
Although we wish that it wouldn’t our life has been moved on. I have had to work like crazy over the last few days, Mum has had some surgery that will change her life, and things just move on. I am back scrapping again, as I was able to get a start on scanning in the old slides of me that I found Dad had put aside. Another project that he never finished. They have been very inspiring on the scrapping front, added to all the new designers I have gotten to play with over at twolittlepixels.
Make sure you come by the gallery at twolittlepixels as well, as you are now welcome to upload YOUR 2lp layouts there for us all to enjoy.
Believe it or not, this is a big post for me, so I’m going to end it there. Have a great week!
My father, Jack, passed away not quite 2 weeks ago. We have been busy with family matters, helping arrange his funeral and all the million and one details that need to be cared for. I am glad that he is no longer struggling and in pain, but for me, the pain is only just beginning. I will miss him every day.

It seems like it’s just one thing after another around here…. it’s been a very hard 12 months. I’m not sure how I’ll manage without my beloved Dad, but I guess I will find out. *skip* and the boys are just as devastated. He was a very special man, and not one that will ever be replaced. A fabulous quote from their neighbour that my sister used in her Eulogy, “We are all born copies, but die an original.” And original is what my Dad was.
Here’s a few layouts featuring him, some of which I had the honour of having published in Scrapbooking Magazines… far from being excited, poor Jack was embarassed by it. But they are treasures to me now.

There’s nothing really left to say after all those!
Ok, so I got MOST of the list covered…. did some composting, weeding, went for the walk, went to the shops, baked 2 batches of muffins with dinner. Just didn’t get to the sewing yet.
I scored big-time at the op-shop though… 2 pairs of excellent condition grey pants (sort of cargo-ish) that will do for Tyson for school… $1 each. I got a set of curtains to make into a messenger bag, complete with lining fabric from their massive fabric stash, got some cute doilies, a decor microwave jug, 8 hemmed napkins for the table and a couple of paperbacks for the kids… all for the princely sum of $15.20. I always feel like I am ripping these lovely ladies off when I go there lol…. but anyway. I’m happy.
I took some work in progress photos of the garden today, so you can get an idea of how much we’ve done, and how much is still to go. Hopefully I can post them tomorrow, but for now, it’s been a long day, work tomorrow and Pride and Prejudice is winding up on the Tv without me… better go make sure that Elizabeth and Darcy get their act together. Without me, who knows what might happen?
I know that I called this blog Scrapping and Stuff, however I was afraid the Scrapping part of the title was a little ambitious as I hadn’t managed much Scrapping lately. In fact, for the past 6 weeks, every time I sat down at the computer, I couldn’t scrap. However, our much NEEDED holiday to Australia’s Northern Territory, although short, was sweet and I came home inspired.
Here’s some of my recent layouts (and one that I completed before the drought and never blogged)
So there you have it. Scrapping, as well as stuff. Hopefully more scrapping to come, but for now I’m desperately trying to clear my Mac off because it’s having “health issues”
Have a great night!
Not from the voices of the cheerful youngsters. By the fact that it has rained almost without stopping, all day. What a wonderful sound. The garden and the birds are loving it. The dog, however, is not impressed. I ask you, why have a double wool coat if you are afraid to get it wet?
I have been so behind on posting layouts, so here’s a whole slew of them to keep you amused. Sharon has been running a promotion where everyday she’s featured an older kit, and we’ve done some fantastic layouts with these oldies but goodies.
Here, we have School Daze.
This layout created using Softly – gorgeous papers in this one!
This layout used Sweet Pea, and no, I didn’t fold those scallops!
This layout used creashens gorgeous kit, BelievHer. Those sparkly stitches looked too much like fireworks to me!
This last one would have to be my favourite latest layout. I had so much fun doing gradient masks and getting the blending just perfect. Again, its one of creashen’s kits, this time called Barefoot. Yummy stuff. This clever girl has got herself a gig designing over at catscrap now. Totally rockin’!
The boys helped me put on a huge pot of pumpkin and assorted vegetable soup today in the slow cooker. The smell is slowly driving us all insane, so I’m going to go and stir/check it, and have a cup of cofffee to ward off this incredibly chilly afternoon. Later all!
